Re: Are Rangers the same football club?
I remember in the 60s and 70 the scotch people I knew used to say that "The scottish fitba'er is the finest in the wurrrld."

You don't hear any of that shit now.

Why do we care, a nasty joke of a club

If that's the case I am sure you will want to acclaim the amazing rise to the top division of a completely new club.
They have done brilliantly haven't they?

Sounds like normal football banter to me
And with such a third world league I guess it is something to talk about
From the 70's where the top Scottish players were the backbone to the likes of Liverpool to now is a catastrophic collapse.

Re: Are Rangers the same football club?
They're not the same club.

1. They were liquidated.

2. The money they owed to a lot of people was not paid. Even surrounding businesses like facepainters and a florist were not paid.

3. Any clubb wishing to join the league has to play in Amatuer football for AT LEAST 2 years before being allowed to apply for league status.
The new Rangers club skipped other clubs who have been waiting for years.

They were allowed to take on the old Rangers football credits because basically everyone shat it from them.

They are without any doubt a new club, gifted the footballing merits of a dead one.

They are the same club. Much the same way AFC Wimbledon is Wimbledon.

It's the supporters that make the club - isn't that what we as supporters always say?

I'd feel the same if Celtic, Tottenham, or Millwall was liquidated too.

I would normally want to acclaim the amazing rise - but for a new club that raised £70m in an IPO and blown the lot playing against teams of part timers whose players held down jobs as plumbers, brickies, posties, etc. Then they can't even get promoted from the Championship at the first attempt!

They now can't even afford to buy any players - relying on loans and free transfers - but still have a salary bill 10 times that of Kilmarnock that they can't even beat! Now they're having to play full-time teams they're struggling!

Then they pretend they're a big club by going after Joleon Lescott and then they can't afford him (despite Villa going to pay his first year's salary). Someone from Rangers said he failed his medical, whilst someone else said he didn't want to move his family from Manchester. A few days later, he's passed a medical at AEK and him and his family are off to that famous Manchester suburb of Athens!

Yep it's been an amazing rise, but now the money's run out, that's as far as they're going.

Would Celtic fans be happy being a completely'new' club if they were allowed to join the premier league? They would have to be a new club having not entered it in the proper manner? Ie not climbing the pyramid

Off the top of my head that means that Chelsea, Wolves, Leeds and Portsmouth 'aren't the same club' as they were in the 70s. I'm sure there are more.

Chelsea, Wolves, Leeds and Portsmouth are still the same club as none of those were ever liquidated. They may have been close and been in administration, but they paid their debts (or reached an agreement with their creditors) and therefore came out of administration.

Accrington Stanley were the first Football League club to go bust, followed by Aldershot and Maidstone. Other former League clubs have gone bust when playing non-League football. All the others have continued to be the same club..

Only problem is they'd be nowhere near the standard required for a super league. Makes me chuckle when people say how tough Man City's CL group is. OK Barcelona are a bit tasty and Monchengladbach might pick up a point against the big boys at home. But CELTIC !!! Don't make me laugh.

Just like Celtic they still care more about religious nonsense than football. They will never play down south because of this.
